An aluminium extrusion press is a heavy-duty hydraulic machine that forces a heated aluminium billet through a steel die to produce profiles with a specific cross-section — such as window frames, heat sinks, structural beams and industrial profiles.
The billet is preheated to 430–500°C, loaded into the container, and pushed by the main ram under 1,200–10,000+ tons of pressure. The softened aluminium flows through the die, then cools on a runout table before being stretched, cut and aged.
Our presses are engineered to process the full spectrum of aluminium alloys, including the 1xxx, 3xxx, 5xxx, 6xxx and 7xxx series. The most common are 6061, 6063, 6082 and 6005 for architectural and industrial profiles.
For hard alloys such as 2024 and 7075, we recommend our indirect extrusion presses with higher tonnage and optimized container design.
Extrusion speed depends on alloy, profile complexity and press tonnage. Typical ram speeds range from 2–25 mm/s, with profile exit speeds of 20–80 m/min for soft alloys like 6063.
Annual output for a single 1,800T line is approximately 6,000–10,000 tons/year running 2 shifts, with cycle times as fast as 45–90 seconds per billet.
Every ARZIR extrusion press meets CE / ISO safety standards and includes:

Standard lead time is 6–10 months depending on press tonnage and the scope of auxiliary equipment (log heater, handling system, aging ovens, etc.). Larger turnkey lines may require 10–14 months.

Direct extrusion is the most widely used method — simple, cost-effective and ideal for soft alloys and standard architectural profiles. The billet moves while the die stays fixed.
Indirect extrusion keeps the billet stationary and moves the die, which reduces friction by up to 30%, lowers extrusion force, improves surface finish and is preferred for hard alloys (2xxx, 7xxx) and seamless tubes.
ARZIR presses are controlled by Siemens S7-1500 PLC with industrial HMI touchscreen and full closed-loop servo-proportional valves for precise ram speed and pressure control.
