Industrial Shredder Working Principle

Our industrial shredders follow a proven process to reduce oversized materials into uniform, manageable pieces for downstream processing or direct recycling.

1

Material Feeding

Raw materials are loaded into the hopper via conveyor, grab bucket, or manual feeding. The hopper is designed to prevent bridging and ensure consistent infeed.

2

Primary Shredding

Rotating shafts with interlocking blades (or high-speed hammers) grip, tear, and shear materials into smaller pieces. Hydraulic systems auto-reverse on overload.

3

Screen Sizing

Shredded material passes through a sizing screen. Oversized pieces are recirculated for further reduction until the desired output size is achieved.

4

Discharge & Separation

Correctly-sized output is discharged onto conveyors for downstream sorting, magnetic separation, eddy current separation, or direct transport.

Industrial Shredder Questions & Answers

Get quick answers to the most common questions about our industrial shredders, ordering, and after-sales support.

What materials can an industrial shredder process?
ARZIR industrial shredders process a wide range of materials including scrap metals (steel, aluminum, copper), tires, plastics (HDPE, PET, PVC, PP), e-waste (circuit boards, cables, appliances), wood, paper, cardboard, textiles, rubber, medical waste, and bulky waste like mattresses and furniture. The optimal shredder type depends on your material mix and desired output size.
What are the different types of industrial shredders?
Single-shaft shredders use one rotor with a hydraulic pusher and screen for precise output sizing — ideal for plastics, wood, and light materials. Double-shaft (twin-shaft) shredders have two counter-rotating shafts for aggressive primary shredding of heavy, bulky materials like tires, metals, and e-waste. Four-shaft shredders add an integrated screen to achieve uniform particle size in a single pass — perfect for e-waste, medical waste, and data destruction. Hammer shredders (hammer mills) use high-speed rotating hammers for fine reduction of scrap metal, car bodies, and appliances, producing liberation-grade output for downstream separation.
What throughput can I expect from an ARZIR shredder?
Throughput varies by model, material type, and desired output size. Single-shaft shredders process 500 kg to 8 tons per hour. Double-shaft shredders handle 2 to 40+ tons per hour for primary shredding. Four-shaft shredders deliver 1 to 15 tons per hour with precise sizing. Hammer shredders can process 5 to 60+ tons per hour for metal scrap. Our engineering team will recommend the optimal configuration based on your specific throughput and output requirements.
How long do the shredder blades last and are they replaceable?
ARZIR shredder blades are manufactured from high-alloy wear-resistant tool steel (such as D2, Cr12MoV, or equivalent) with hardness of HRC 58–62. Blade life depends on material hardness, contamination, and daily throughput — typically ranging from 6 to 18 months before rotation or replacement. All blades are modular, individually replaceable, and available as spare parts shipped worldwide within 3–5 business days.
Can you customize the shredder for my specific application?
Yes. ARZIR offers full customization including motor power, shaft speed, blade configuration, chamber size, screen mesh size, hopper design, discharge method, power supply voltage, PLC brand, and control system language. We also design turnkey shredding lines with conveyors, magnetic separators, eddy current separators, and dust collection systems integrated into your existing workflow.
What warranty and after-sales support do you provide?
All ARZIR industrial shredders include a 12-month warranty covering manufacturing defects. We provide lifetime technical support via phone, email, and video call. Spare parts — including blades, bearings, seals, screens, and electronic components — ship globally within 3–5 business days. On-site installation, commissioning, and operator training services are available upon request.
What is the output particle size and how is it controlled?
Output particle size depends on the shredder type and the sizing screen fitted. Single-shaft and four-shaft shredders use interchangeable perforated screens (typically 20–200 mm aperture) to enforce a maximum output size — material is recirculated until it passes through. Double-shaft shredders produce coarser primary output (50–400 mm) suited for downstream secondary shredding or separation. Hammer shredders can achieve fine output down to 10–50 mm. Our engineers will specify the correct screen size for your downstream process requirements.
How long does delivery and installation take?
Standard shredder models are manufactured and ready for shipment within 25–45 working days after order confirmation and deposit receipt. Customized or large-scale systems typically require 45–75 working days. Sea freight transit times vary by destination — generally 15–35 days. On-site installation and commissioning by ARZIR engineers can be arranged and typically takes 3–7 days depending on system complexity. We provide detailed foundation drawings and pre-installation checklists to ensure your site is ready upon equipment arrival.
What power supply and motor options are available?
ARZIR shredders are configurable for any international power supply standard, including 380V/50Hz, 415V/50Hz, 460V/60Hz, 480V/60Hz, and other voltages upon request. Drive options include direct hydraulic drive (high-torque, low-maintenance), gearbox-coupled electric motors, and variable frequency drive (VFD) systems for speed control and soft-start protection. Motor brands such as Siemens, ABB, and WEG are available. Our electrical engineering team will configure the complete control panel and wiring to your local standards.
Can shredders be integrated into a complete processing line?
Yes. ARZIR designs and supplies complete turnkey shredding and sorting lines. A typical integrated line includes infeed conveyors, primary and secondary shredders, magnetic drum separators for ferrous recovery, eddy current separators for non-ferrous metals, vibrating screens for size classification, dust collection systems, and outfeed conveyors to storage or baling. All equipment is interconnected via a central PLC with a unified HMI, enabling one-button start/stop, automated fault detection, and real-time production monitoring. We handle system layout, civil foundation design, electrical integration, and operator training as a single-source supplier.
